Coming together for an easy-going future – The Arbor Collective
Arbor Boards is not a company in the classical sense; they consider themselves a collective. The Arbor Collective not only consists of manufacturers and distributors of goods, but also of passionate masterminds, enthusiastic craftsmen, distinguished and renowned artists and last but not least, team riders and friends who test the decks and provide the expertise for Arbor Skateboards. You’re in good hands with this great family.
In the beginning was the tree - the beginnings of Arbor
It all began in 1995 with the production of snowboards. The focus has always been on functionality in close connection with sustainability. As a result, Arbor has had many years of experience and is well-versed in the characteristics of the woods and fibres used to make their boards. Whether Arbor Skateboards or Arbor Snowboards, here there is one common goal: to produce the best possible boards.
The Sucrose Initiative - environmentally conscious wheels!
Since the very early days of skateboarding, skateboard wheels have been made of polyurethane and nothing more. The fact is that over the decades, wheels have undergone changes in shapes and slightly differing characteristics. But in the end, the urethane composition hasn’t changed much. Arbor, however, went a new way and founded the Sucrose Initiative. In order to be able to shred with a better conscience, the sucrose process produces wheels which, in addition to urethane, are made with a sugar-based mixture. This reduces the amount of oil needed to produce longboard wheels and makes the thane lines you leave behind much more environmentally friendly. Every step counts!
Returning Roots - The Arbor Reforestation Program
A key feature of many Arbor Longboards is the incredible decorative veneer on the undersides. Many of these veneers consist of Hawaiian Koa wood, which has a truly unique look. Since skateboards are generally made of wood, you can be sure that at Arbor, this raw material is handled responsibly. In order to do so, Arbor's makers founded the Returning Roots program.
Arbor invests in various partner programs that not only plant new trees, but also grow entire forests, and even by replanting smaller plants in the forest floors under the trees. Thus, in Hawaii, a new Koa forest was created in a natural state. Each of the boards in the skatedeluxe Arbor Brand Shop contributes to this.
