Nordic by Nature – Cleptomanicx
On the first of September, 1991, founder Pitt Feil dubbed his freshly painted Hamburg cutter the name Cleptomanicx and thereby kicked off a wave that started in St. Pauli and would overrun all of Europe within a few short years. Designing and testing with a love for detail and a generous amount of creativity, the CleptoLabs galley has been designed and tested, reflecting the artistry and skills of the ship’s chef. Once subjects like the seagull, toast & other fun friends made their way onto comfortable cotton, it was time to heave anchor and cast off.
The strategy of using funny comic prints totally paid off for the Clepto crew. Now, the harbour-related graphics can be found on T-Shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts. Thanks in part to the hip-hop ensemble Die Beginner!, who started a real hype about the brand when they sported the seagull for the first time.
All You Need Is a Seagull and Some Wheels – Capt'n Clepto Has 'em All
The ionic clip “Rollen Aller 1-3” was the final push that shot Cleptomanicx into the heart of skate scene, and finally confirmed their high status. Since then, the mascot and figurehead Captn Clepto had sailed around the world with team members like Niklas Speer von Cappeln, Tjark Thielker, Dennis Laaß, David Conrads and Lennie Burmeisterto in search of new spots and more variety.
Additionally, designer and creative director Stefan Marx is always on board the Clepto cutter. Since 2003, not only has he been putting his stamp on every kind of Cleptomanicx threads, but on boxer shorts as well - which he now distributes under his own brand Lousy Livin’ Underwear.
