Etnies Footwear, now headquartered in Lake Forest, California, began its conquest in France in 1986 under the name "Etnics". When Pierre André Sénizergues took on the job in 1989 and began expanding to the USA, "Etnics" quickly became "Etnies", making it one of the first and so far the biggest footwear brands by American shoe company Sole Technology, Inc.
Etnies – Every Shoe Plants a Tree
As a former pro skater and repeat world champion in skateboarding, Pierre André Sénizergues knew the needs and demands for “work” shoes in the skating world. That meant robust shoes, both lightweight and comfortable with a good cushioning system. In every Etnies shoe lies a long history, high attention to detail and a piece of Pierre André himself.
The innovative and diverse designs are now also known outside of the skate scene and with names like Scout, Marana and Jameson you can get both stylish recreational shoes and shoes specially developed for skaters. Etnies also places a great deal of importance on environmental protection. With every pair of Etnies shoes sold, a tree is planted in the rainforests of Brazil or Costa Rica as part of the "Buy a Shoe - Plant a Tree" program.
Etnies – The planet is our playground
Over the years, in addition to skate shoes, Etnies has added a full range of streetwear with T-shirts, jackets, hoodies and backpacks to its mix, not to mention- shoes for BMX riders and motocrossers. So it’s no surprise that today you’ll find high-profile names in the ranks of the Etnies team. Pro-skaters like German legend, Willow, Ryan Sheckler, Julian Davidson and Nick Garcia - every team rider now has his or her own signature shoe out there. The same goes for surfers and snowboarders Coco Ho, Chris Bradshaw, Denny Larsen and Chris Del Moro. World-famous BMX riders like Aaron Ross and Chase Hawk also have a hand in special footwear for their sport.
