Oakley - humble beginnings & rapid success
Oakley was founded by Jim Jannard in 1975. At that time, he was selling handles for BMX handlebars to visitors at Motocross events right out of his trunk. To make the brand more popular, he started to produce Motocross goggles with the famous Oakley logo. In 1984 those developed into the first sunglasses model with regular temples - with the help of racing cyclists the "Factory Pilot" became extremely popular worldwide in no time.
Today, Oakley commits itself to many sports, skateboarding is one of them. Since 1995, Oakley has provided skateboarders with tried and tested modern looking sunglasses that you can easily order in the skatedeluxe skate shop. Oakley ambassadors Ryan Sheckler and Bob Burnquist appreciate the technology behind various models. Frames like the Oakley Frogskins or the Holbrook sunglasses are everyday essentials.
