Off of the skateboard, into the binding - The perfect jacket for your day in the snow!
The mountains are calling, but you still haven’t found the right jacket? Up on the slopes, you not only want to look good, you also want to be well-prepared for the elements. Therefore, you have a lot to consider when it comes to finding the right outfit for an unforgettable day in the snow. Especially in winter, the coexistence of fashion and function plays a huge role. Just because you’re deep in the snow doesn’t mean you have to freeze. The winter-enthusiasts behind the brands Burton, Horsefeathers, ThirtyTwo, Volcom and more want to provide you with high-quality winter clothing for any conditions. With our handy filters, you can directly search for the clothes you feel most comfortable in and what best suits your taste. If you like your jacket lightly fitted over the hip, you should go for a normal cut jacket. If you prefer everything a little more laid-back and easy, try out a loose fit jacket. Want to take that to the next level? Click through our long cut snowboard jackets. Combined with a pair of tight trousers, you’ll be stylin’ both on and off the slopes. Punks and rail-rockers, on the other hand, will probably prefer a slim fit.

Clever storage solutions such as a pocket for your lift pass or media pocket with audio output can help you organise your most important gadgets while offering secure protection for your mobile phone or iPod. To ensure that snow stays on the outside of your jacket, many models are equipped with adjustable sleeve cuffs, an elastic snow skirt or a jacket-to-pants connection system. With additional pockets on the front, you can keep your hands warm and easily stow away useful belongings. Not sure where to keep your goggles? In the skatedeluxe Online Skate Shop, you’ll also find a wide selection of snowboard jackets with mesh pockets sewn into the inner lining of the jacket specifically to store your goggles. Is the backcountry your second home? Some models are even equipped with an integrated whistle, which can be used to signal for help in dangerous situations.
Water Columns for snowboard jackets- is it all just smoke and mirrors?
Water column? What does that even mean? The millimetres aren’t describing how thick the fabric is, rather how waterproof it is. Waterproofness is typically measured using a hydrostatic head test. The fabric is stretched over a glass tube with a diameter of 1 inch and water is added to the glass column. The number of millimetres describes the height of the water before it begins to soak through. 5000mm is a lot, which is why a jacket with that level of waterproofness will keep you dry for a long time. Cross-country skiers and deep snow divers are best-advised stick with higher water columns upwards of 10000mm; which is especially prudent if that cliff drop was a bit higher than expected. So far, so complicated, we know. As a snowboarder, though, understanding textile water columns is essential because what it really means is how watertight your clothing is. Nothing’s worse than a cold wet day on the slopes. Having a snowboard jacket and pants that are highly water resistant makes all the difference. Luckily some of the snowboard jackets at skatedeluxe have a water column up to 15000mm!
