Sweatshirts – the all-around outerwear piece for skateboarding
Sweatshirts for skating are typically made of pure cotton, but it’s also possible that, for example, your Polar sweatshirt is additionally comprised of polyester or nylon. The use of synthetic fabrics makes these pullovers more breathable and allows the clothing to dry faster. If you prefer thicker sweatshirts for skating, we recommend sweaters with soft fleece fabric to provide additional warmth.
As with the material, you also have a lot of choices in the fit of the sweatshirt. In addition to the classic cut, you can also buy Slim-Fit and Loose-Fit sweaters and jumpers at skatedeluxe. Whether you fancy an oversized sweatshirt or favour a fitted cardigan, here you’ll find the perfect top to suit your style. The diversity of the types of necklines ranges from a typical crewneck or V-neck, to jumpers with high collars like the classic turtleneck to keep you warm and cosy in winter. You’ll even find rugby sweaters in our Online Skate Shop! With these “very British” pullovers, you’ll be fit for the park as well as for gran’s birthday dinner thanks to the chic stripes and polo-style collar.
Information on the materials used and special features such as hidden pockets can be found in our article descriptions.
Sweatshirts with Logo Prints: proudly rep your favourite brand right on your chest
Every skate brand has at least one sweatshirt with this particular print: their own logo. This design is usually screen printed onto the chest. Some brands go big and bold with a logo print across the entire top, while others choose a subtle variant, with their brand name as a patch or fine stitch work on the chest. Some opt for more unusual places such as on the cuffs or even inside.
As with hoodies, there is also the possibility to apply different designs and graphics by means of plastisol or discharge printing. However, due to the lack of zipper and kangaroo pocket, sweatshirts also offer the possibility of large photo prints. Detailed photographs can be printed on almost any sweatshirt with this print technology. If large prints and bold colours aren’t your thing, you can also find simpler sweatshirts with more understated details.
Sweatshirts – How to wear them
If you are looking for a style guide, we’re sorry to have to disappoint. It’s just that there are no general rules for sweatshirts when it comes to skating because it really depends on the particular sweater. If you prefer to keep it loose in an Oversize Fit, look for the sweaters that sit a bit bigger on our models, or go for a larger size than you would normally wear. Ignore the conventions of the fashion world; wear your sweater the way you like it!
With the right care, you can enjoy your sweater for longer
Okay, nobody has the time to study and decipher the care symbols on the tags of every article of clothing they own. But you still want to take care of your clothes, right? With the help of a few simple tips, you’ll be able to enjoy your new sweatshirt for years to come.
• Wash your sweater at 30 degrees. This is enough to eliminate most dirt and grime. At higher temperatures, however, it’s possible your sweatshirt will shrink.
• Turn the sweater inside-out before washing. This will help preserve the print. Hang it to dry in a shady place or also inside out. Direct sunlight will make the colours fade in both the fabric and the print.
• You should wash white sweatshirts separately from clothes with intense colours such as red, blue or black. Unless that is, you're going for an unintentional tie-dye look...
