Less is more – the Windrow Vulc from etnies

etnies Windrow Vulc Test Review

etnies is one of the most established brands for skate shoes and run under the patronage of Sole Technology, Inc. Years of experience in the skate shoe business are of course reflected in the products and the Windrow Vulc seamlessly ties in with the rich history of etnies.

The Windrow Vulc by etnies is a classic low-top sneaker with a vulcanized sole. Equipped with a removable Foam Lite 1 footbed, padded tongue and hem and a vulcanized outsole, the Windrow Vulc is a classic skate shoe straight out of a textbook.

First impression – fit and comfort of the etnies Windrow Vulc

The high quality of the materials, the good workmanship and the light weight were the first positive features that I noticed about the Windrow Vulc from etnies. The “new” etnies logo blends in well with the silhouette of the shoe and makes an elegant impression.

Usually I always need a little longer to break in a shoe and feel good about it. With the etnies Windrow Vulc, I had the feeling that it was “my” shoe after just one or two hours and that the fit had adapted perfectly to my feet. The first session intensified the feeling of comfort and remained from then on.

I have quite wide feet and but with the Windrow Vulc from etnies, I never had any uncomfortable pressure points. The fit is comfortable and it keeps its shape even after a few sessions. The mixture of soft suede, textile and various air holes make the Windrow Vulc an ideal summer skate shoe.

Performance & durability – lots of grip and flick

In total, I skated Windrow Vulc for about 25-30 hours. The grip of the sole and the feeling for the flick convinced me particularly. Flip tricks were definitely easier for me than with other shoes and this feeling did not fade even after many hours.

Since the laces showed only minor signs of wear even after several sessions, I didn’t have to change them. The most noticeable wear I noticed after about 20-25 hours of skating on the sole. The wear and tear of the sole had quiet a big effect on the absorption of impact. As a result, I perceived bumps and impacts much more intensely.

However, it must also be mentioned that I skated two new decks, including new griptape, during the test and thus increased the wear and tear.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a classic, vulcanized skate shoe with a simple silhouette, then the etnies Windrow Vulc is exactly the right shoe for you. Above all, the board feel and the flick surprised me positively throughout. If you are into flat and technical skating, the Windrow Vulc will convince you. Thanks to years of experience, etnies is always able to bring first-class skate shoes to the market.
