Jart Skateboards was launched in 2001 by the three brothers Igor, Iban, & Ander Iraola. The brand from Spain quickly became well-known in the European and global skateboard scene. As one of the few skateboard companies, Jart produces their decks in Europe. At their factory based in the Basque country, special attention is paid to high environmental standards. In the meantime, Jart has become the largest deck manufacturer in Europe. In addition to skateboard decks, Jart skateboards also offer a wide selection of wheels and bearings.

Jart Skateboards deliberately focus on a European location. Their factory is located half an hour's drive from San Sebastiàn, in the village of Irúu, where the Iraola family was already involved in wood working for a few centuries. Jart skateboard decks are individually pressed to guarantee the same quality for each skateboard deck. Some other manufacturers, in contrast, have multiple decks pressed in a mold, which can lead to differences in shape and concave.
The location in Spain also has advantages for the environment. According to the Basque industrial law, all waste materials have to be recycled at Jart Skateboards. The wood used in the company also comes exclusively from forests with sustainable management. For Jart, "Save our planet" is not only a label but an important ideal.
