A long way - Nike SB's history and the SB skate team

Nike's entry into the skateboarding market has not been easy. In the late 90's and early 2000's, the skate shoe market was primarily led by already established brands like Vans, DC, éS, Osiris and Emerica. The shoe that opened the doors of the skate world for Nike is undoubtedly the Nike SB Dunk.

The first official team riders of Nike SB were Reese Forbes, Gino Iannucci, Richard Mulder and Danny Supa. All four received a signature Dunk: the "Colors By" series, which is still in high demand today. Shortly after, the team expanded with exceptional talent Paul Rodriguez and the Australian Lewis Marnell (RIP).

In 2007 Nike SB released their first skate video called "Nothing But The Truth". Shortly after that the two videos "Debacle" and "SB Chronicles Vol. 1" followed. The first two videos already caused a big stir within the skate scene, but especially "SB Chronicles Vol. 1" made a big splash, as it showed skaters like Stefan Janoski, Wieger Van Wageningen, Chet Childress, Grant Taylor, Youness Amrani and Daniel Shimizu.

The Nike Grind program uses recycled materials and industrial waste, among other things, to recycle them into new products. In the long term, Nike's goal is to establish a continuous cycle and reduce waste production to a minimum.
