Poetic Collective Shop
It’s not easy to establish a new skateboard brand these days. Poetic Collective from Malmö, Sweden have found their own approach and quickly made a name for themselves in the European skate scene. You can buy streetwear and decks from Poetic Collective easily in the skatedeluxe skate shop.
New perspectives for skateboarding: the Poetic Collective
Starting a new skateboarding brand bears some difficulties. Standing out from other existing brands is essential. Poetic Collective Skateboards chose the right path in this perspective and found their niche. The combination of fine arts and unique design gives the products of this collective from Malmö an individual look that is instantly recognisable. History of art, architecture and graphic design are further sources of inspiration that melt into small pieces of art on Poetic Collective’s skateboard decks.
The question is, why would anyone found a new skateboard label these days? Tom Botwid, the brand’s founder, realised during his studies at the Art Academy in Berlin that there’s a lot of repetition in skateboarding. Well-known images are often reproduced, and inspiration in skateboarding often comes from within the scene. Thus, the idea to start a brand with a fresh approach and sources of inspiration from outside of skateboarding was born. Together with his brother and partner Paul Botwid, who is in charge of many designs from Poetic Collective, Tom was able to give the brand its own face and identity.
One crew, one passion: the Poetic Collective Skate Team
Even though a large portion of the work is done by the Botwid brothers, the brand’s name already suggests that the community aspect has great importance within Poetic Collective. Open communication and a culture where everyone can have their say are key pillars of Poetic’s creative work.
Next to Tom, the Poetic Collective team consists of close friends of the brothers. Those would be Simon Kälkvist, Klas Andersson, Danny Westin, Peter Johansson, John Nordh, Nils Lilja and Sarah Meurle who is also a photographer and has already designed some board graphics for the brand.
Poetic Collective - always a little different
Poetic veers from the mainstream in terms of streetwear as well. The daring balancing act between sporty fits and artsy logos is highlighted by elaborate stitching. Apart from decks & streetwear that easily manage to stand out from the masses of the market, the Poetic Collective videos really stand out in particular.

With the full-length concept trilogy “White Black Colour”, the Swedes have left a lasting impression on the scene. Tour footage from Budapest and Paris or shorter edits like “Movements”, “MNMLSM” and “Labeled” show that the Poetic Collective skate team also follows a creative approach in skateboarding and therefore brings a fresh breath of air to the often entrenched community.
