Which winter jacket suits you?

When it comes to winter jackets there is just no escaping down jackets and parkas. Down winter jackets or also down jackets are trendy and thanks to their different stitching they offer plenty of heat output. In addition, buffers and down jackets are very light and therefore ideal for skateboarding. From synthetic fillers to genuine down: down jackets from brands like The North Face, Polar Skate Co. or Patagonia are available in many skatedeluxe skate shop varieties.

Parkas are classic winter jackets. Not only are they a popular choice for skateboarders, but they also keep you warm and dry. Thanks to their longer cut, parkas offer plenty of comfort, protection, and storage space with a classic, simple style.

A bit shorter, but none the less trendy are lined pullover jackets with a windbreaker look. Made from different materials such as polyester and nylon, they provide a warm and weatherproof alternative to classic winter jackets with full-length zippers. Don’t leave home without your denim jacket during the winter! Complete your skate outfit with quilted or faux fur-lined denim jackets. Thanks to sherpa lining, these winter jackets keep you warm and give your outfit that perfect denim looks even in the wintertime.

What makes a good winter jacket?

Winter jackets should keep you warm and dry when temperatures are low. Material, insulation, processing and other features play a crucial role. In the skatedeluxe skate shop, we rely on experienced manufacturers like Carhartt WIP, The North Face, Patagonia, etc., when it comes to winter jackets. Winter jackets produce and store heat through the interplay of trapped air and your body heat. Large air pockets like with down jackets store more heat. There are also highly sophisticated synthetic fillings, such as PrimaLoft® in the Patagonia outdoor jacket section, which can also keep warm when wet.

Keep your jacket dry, especially in the winter. This is ensured by water and wind-resistant to waterproof outer materials made of synthetic fibers such as polyester or nylon. Weather-resistant winter jackets with water columns starting from 5000 mm, can be found in snowboard jackets in the skatedeluxe skate shop.

How do you wear your winter jacket properly?

Several cuts like normal, long or slim are available. Be sure to take into consideration mobility, sleeve length, shoulder area and plenty of room for additional clothing underneath your jacket. It is also important to think about where you want to use your winter jacket.

For example, when snowboarding, we recommend a slightly longer and wider cut, so that you can move about more freely and stay protected from snow and moisture. When skating, a short-fitted and lightweight winter jacket is a plus – and you’ll appreciate the legroom. Waist-high jackets are ideal. Long parkas are more for after the session.
