The history of the long-standing company dates back to the 1910s. Back then, the two cousins Charles Nathan Williamson and Emmet Eugene “Colonel” Dickie from Texas, produced horse’s harness, before they got into the fashion business.
From Headgear to Uniforms - Dickies in the Course of Time
With the purchase of the U.S. Overall Company in 1918, both finally laid the foundation of the future fashion brand. Initially, the Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Company was famous for classic cotton overalls which were produced for the local workers. Even before the first one-piece suit left the conveyor belt, the focus of the founders was already on the quality of the materials and their processing into pants, T-shirts and jackets.
