Going down the list of former Powell-Peralta team riders is like reading the names in a skateboard encyclopedia: Ray Barbee, inventor of the ollie, Alan Gelfand, Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek, Guy Mariano, Andy McDonald, Colin McKay, Mike Vallely and Danny Way are just a few of the iconic skateboarders to have skated Powell-Peralta boards. The Bones Brigade is absolutely legendary and films such as "The Bones Brigade Video Show" (1984), "The Search for Animal Chin" (1987) and "Propaganda" (1990) are now regarded as timeless classics.
Still in 2017, the Powell-Peralta team has a lot to offer and provides a place for young skaters, exactly as they did back in the day. In addition to legends such as Steve Caballero and Mike McGill, there are many new names like Scott Decenzo, Kevin Hoeffler and Andy Anderson. Keeping to the motto that life and history must go hand in hand.

It’s not rocket science – The foundation of Powell-Peralta
Sometimes, fate pushes itself in the right direction and as one door closes, another opens. For George Powell, it was the loss of his engineering job in space travel. This had brought him to Santa Barbara, California and led him to start building boards again. He already had some experience in 1957, but he refined his technique after his son was unsatisfied with the first models. Already in 1974, Powell started working on urethane wheels as well, which he produced himself.
After some time, he finally met Stacy Peralta, who was thrilled with one of his flexible slalom prototypes. In 1978, they decided to found Powell-Peralta Skateboards together. Despite Peralta’s departure between 1991 and 2010, the brand continued on as Powell. Today, the two founders have reunited again to let their legacy live on. Just good!
