RVCA
What’s the Story Behind the Four Letters?
RVCA was founded in 2000 by PM Tenore and surf legend Conan Hayes in Costa Mesa, California. What’s the secret behind this lifestyle brand and how do you pronounce these four letters, you ask? We have the answers for you. The "V" in the name is actually a "U", simply written in traditional Roman script. Hence, RVCA is pronounced "rue-cah".
The RVCA logo is based on the two chevrons, the V & the A, which represents the brand ethos "The Balance of Opposites". This ethos is also reflected in the fact that the brand not only sponsors an outstanding skate and surf team, as well as Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts athletes, but also supports artists as well.
RVCA – The Multifaceted Lifestyle Brand
The label focuses on street culture, taking on exceptional artists like Tommy Guerrero, David Choe, Barry McGee and the punk band OFF!. This results in shirts, boardshorts, pants and jackets that reflect the lifestyle of skaters and artists.
In addition to that, the brand created the "RVCA Artist Network Program". A program that aims to provide a platform for up-and-coming artists and established artists who inspire our generation and create culture. RVCA developed the foundation of the company to give back to artists and to provide a stage for their creative growth.
The RVCA Skate Team
The exceptional quality of the streetwear and the special team feeling are much appreciated by the pro skaters on the RVCA Skate Team. The initially modest team is growing steadily and now includes some of the greats like Andrew Reynolds, Curren Caples, Greyson Fletcher, Mark Suciu, Kevin Long, Squad Sylla and many more.
