What is skate wax?
Skate wax is a special wax for skateboarders. It is particularly oily and available in many types and colors. Some even smell quite nice. There are spots that can only be skated if you wax them properly. Therefore, we recommend always having some wax in your bag.
What is skate wax used for?
Some skateboard tricks are performed on curbs or ledges or handrails / metal bars: so-called grinds and slides. Since not every spot is perfect, skate wax can make some tricks much easier. The wax reduces the friction on the surface of curbs and rails, so you can grind or slide better. With skate wax you can grind pretty much anything that comes your way in the city - even spots that would otherwise be less than optimal!
Especially if you want to practice grind and slide tricks, skateboard wax can help you learn. With a little wax you'll slide more easily and get a feel for the trick - even if you're not headed towards the obstacle very fast.

How to use skate wax - tips for beginners

- Feel your way to the right amount: often a little wax is enough to notice a positive difference.
- Make sure everyone agrees: if you're skating an obstacle with a group of people, ask if everyone is ok with more wax beforehand. Not everyone has the same skill level.
- No wax on coping: Especially if the coping of ramps is metal, you should refrain from waxing. For some, coping waxing is an absolute no-go. In this case it's better to put some wax on your deck or trucks. Pool coping made of concrete is another story.
