What is a Full Shape or Shovel Nose skateboard deck?
Shovel Nose or Full Shape decks are skateboards that have a particularly wide nose and tail. Regular popsicle decks become narrower from the truck holes towards the nose, resulting in the classic skateboard shape. Shovel Nose boards retain the full width of the deck longer.
Because the nose of some of those decks resembles a shovel, the term "shovel" has become established. Other terms that some manufacturers use are "Full Shape" or "Squared Nose / Tail". What are Shovel Nose decks good for?
Due to the wide nose, these boards offer a lot of surfaces to stand on. This can be an advantage, such as e.g. Noseslides. However, you also need a little more power, because your foot is longer in contact with the board or griptape.
