Just one thing first: skate helmets are neither uncool, nor are they only something for beginners. A helmet protects you from serious injury and helps you get back on the board quickly after falling or having an accident.
Find the answer to your question:
Protection for every skill set - skate helmets
No matter how long you've been skating - at some point you'll definitely fall. It's no secret that this causes your body a lot of stress. But with a skateboard helmet on your head, you can protect yourself properly.
As professional skaters show, wearing a helmet while skateboarding is totally normal. A helmet is mandatory equipment, especially when it comes to skating ramps. Rune Glifberg, Mike Valley, Tony Hawk, Lizzie Armanto, Bucky Lasek, Steve Caballero or Nicole Hause can certainly confirm this.
Skateboard helmet or bike helmet - what's the difference?
Of course, the idea of simply using a bicycle helmet for skating has probably crossed your mind. However, just as skater helmets are not necessarily recommended for biking, we don't recommend relying on a bike helmet for skating.
Because you move differently, you'll fall differently from a skateboard than from a bicycle. This is why skate helmets are shaped differently than bicycle helmets. The back of skateboard helmets is usually slightly longer and encompasses the head more. Visors or other aerodynamic elements are unnecessary on a skate helmet and are therefore not included.
What are skate helmets made of?
The construction of skateboard or longboard helmets is basically always the same. An outer shell made of ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) paired with an inner material - usually EPS (Expanded Polystyrene Hard Foam) - provide protection for your head. Adjustable straps and interior padding provide a comfortable fit. Of course, skateboard helmets also have ventilation slots for those very demanding sessions.
Fits, looks good and protects - find the right skateboard helmet size
Of course, a helmet must fit properly to protect you in an emergency. As with shoes and clothes, the sizes of different helmet brands are unfortunately not standardized.
We created a size chart of the different helmet sizes broken down by head circumference so you can order the skateboard helmet that fits your head perfectly. The best way to measure your head circumference is to place a tape measure about one centimeter above your eyebrows and ears. All information can of course also be found in the product description of your desired helmet in the longboard and skateboard helmet online shop at skatedeluxe!

Skateboard helmets for everyone
While there are skateboard helmets marked specifically for women, the difference between those and "skate helmets for men" is only in the size or recommended head circumference. However, we recommend you buy a skate helmet that fits your head circumference regardless of your gender identity.
Skateboard helmets for kids are similar: the protection remains the same, only the sizes are smaller. Of course you can also order kids' skate helmets easily and conveniently in the skatedeluxe skate shop.
» Skateboard helmets for childrenSkate safe and with style
Of course, you usually see experienced skaters skating without helmets. But the emphasis here is on "experienced". Style and image are often the reasons for this. But with the right graphics and a wide range of styles and colors, a skateboard or longboard helmet can be well integrated into your desired look. Therefore, you can always find the latest skateboard helmets from Ancore, Pro-Tec or TSG at skatedeluxe, which you can easily shop online.
A well-intentioned piece of advice on the subject of style: naturally, your helmet is only useful in an emergency if you fasten the chin strap while wearing it. If you are just starting to skate and generally need some tips about skateboarding, our guide will help you.
