Trick Tip
FS 180 Ollie

A Frontside 180 Ollie is an Ollie with a 180-degree turn. The body and the board jump and turn together in a frontward motion exposing the front part of your body first, hence the name “Frontside”.

This trick is a useful foundation and will come in handy for a whole bunch of other tricks like FS Flips or BS Noseslides.

1. The foot position is similar to an Ollie except you put your back foot a bit more on the outside of the tail to push the tail a bit forward while popping and turning.

2. The most important things are your shoulders. Before you pop your tail, build up momentum with your shoulders by bending down and twisting your shoulders slightly to help spring yourself into the 180 motion when you pop and jump.

3. When you pop your board, push the tail with your back foot a bit forward to help make the 180 turn.

The rest is just like the Ollie. Try to control the direction of the turn with your front foot. The rest of the board and your body will follow.

4. At the beginning you do not need to do the whole 180 while you are in the air.

When you land you can also put your weight on your front truck and drag the remaining degrees and back truck around on the ground.

5. It’s important that you do all these movements simultaneously like in the Ollie to perform a good, clean, fluid frontside 180.

  • Hi

Thank you for posting this! I’m having a problem with this trick though, I can only land with one foot on the board and not the other.

      Hey,
      you’re welcome!

Maybe try to focus on your shoulders more. If you’re trying to force the rotation with your feet too much, you might loose grip and only land with one foot.
Once you’re in the air and move your shoulders your body will follow – as will the board.
