With the Nyjah 3, Nike SB is launching a new pro model of the probably most successful contest skater. Like the two previous models, the Nyjah 3 promises high-performance and advanced technologies. We checked whether the performance of the Nyjah 3 lives up to its namesake.
The design of the shoe has been completely revised and the new silhouette is hardly reminiscent of the Nyjah Free 2. The rubber upper has numerous holes that provide the appropriate ventilation. The outsole uses a honeycomb structure that provides sufficient stability despite its lightweight construction.
Nike SB Nyjah 3 – a peak performance (skate) shoe
The Nike SB pro model shoes by Nyjah Houston certainly trigger mixed feelings for some for very different reasons. In the following, however, we want to focus entirely on the product – and it’s full of surprises, that much in advance.
A design inspiration of the Nyjah 3 certainly was the Nike Presto. A running shoe that was first seen in 2000. Nyjah’s new Pro Model has a similar sporty look. The combination of Nike Air Zoom Sockliner and cushioning midsole is supposed to provide a comfortable fit. The special feature, however, is the flexible inner shoe, which ensures a very firm fit.
Nike SB Nyjah 3 – fit & board feel
Even before unpacking the shoe from the box, a special feature of the shoe becomes noticeable – the shoe is incredibly light. This can be explained by the materials used. The Nyjah 3 consists mainly of rubber and mesh. However, the shoe still makes a very high-quality impression, or maybe even because of that.
When trying on the Nike SB Nyjah 3 for the first time, this impression is confirmed. It feels like you are standing in a running shoe. The shoe fits the foot comfortably and is true to size. If you have wider feet you might want to consider going one size larger. It offers a high wearing comfort with overwhelming damping and board feel en masse.
The durability of the Nike SB Nyjah 3
Since the upper of the Nyjah 3 is entirely made of a rubber composition, I was a bit skeptical at first. However, a few minutes on the board were enough to teach me otherwise. The shoe is in no way inferior to other Nike SB leather models in terms of flick and especially durability.
The sole unit is, as usual from Nike SB, of the best quality and still cuts a good figure after numerous hours of skating. The shoe has lasted a good three weeks with 2-3 sessions per week without any problems and shows no weak points yet.
With the Nyjah 3, Nike SB has provided the SOTY Contender with a new working tool that has to withstand the highest demands and it masters this task brilliantly. The combination of cushioning, lightness, comfort and durability makes the third Nike SB Pro Model by Nyjah Houston an outstanding skate shoe.
You don’t just feel comfortable in this shoe on the skateboard, you can also rely on it for everyday use. Of course, this quality has its price – at 110€, the Nyjah 3 is one of the more expensive skate shoes.
