The North Brigade “Köllefornia” skatepark in Cologne was reopened last weekend after a long renovation break. After the first pictures from the Re-Opening, you can now enjoy our highlight clip from Saturday!
Nearly 2,500 skaters and visitors did not miss out to be at the official reopening of the North Brigade Skatepark in Cologne. At first, the park could be skated freely while the Cologne Academy Skateboard gave courses for the youngest at 12:00. After the opening ceremony with speeches by the club chairman Dieter “DJ” Ortsiefer and representatives from politics and business, the VANS Bowl demo kicked off for some heavy skateboarding!
The Young Guns Tyler Edtmeyer, Danny Leon, Lenni Janssen, Bjoern Lillesoe, Martino Cattaneo and Simple Session-Winner Robin Bolian of Vans and Red Bull shredded the bowl, designed by Rune Glifberg, to pieces. Immediately afterwards, we could enjoy the VANS Best Trick Contest in the Bowl. Danny Leon took home €1,000 for Best trick with a violent FS Rodeo Flip Bowl To Bank Transfer that amazed all viewers and judges.
Then followed the skatedeluxe Best Trick Session at the Big Section, which was interrupted after the first warm-up tricks with an almost typical North Brigade rain shower. After a short rain break, we continued the sesh on the 10-stair set with two Hubbas and a Handrail. For the Judges it was not an easy task to assess the perceived 1.000 Ender tricks of Teamrider Denny Pham, Marcel Weber, Daniel Ledermann, Douwe Macaré, Peter Eich, Yannick Schall, Andi Welther, Samuel Beyer, Tom Eckert etc. With such a line-up of skatemachines and banging tricks, it might just happen that an extremely hard Kickflip FS Nosegrind on the Hubba lands Douwe Macare only on the 10th place … In the end, the Cologne Local Paco Elles from the Trap Skateboards could secure the €500 for the best trick with a remarkable Flip Backtail to Fakie on the Rail.
The re-opening was a great success and shows what to expect in the near future in the Cologne North Brigade Skate Park. Big thanks to the North Brigade Association and the co-sponsors Vans and Red Bull for this event!
